Hands-On Learning
A big part of our commitment to building confidence through numeracy is to make Math fun and to connect it to real-life situations. So far this year, there have been several initiatives at Mitchell to connect the pieces of our learning to numeracy foundations. A great example was the zucchini racers built by divisions 7 and 10. During this project, students used several mathematical skills and applied them to build their racers: measurement, calculating, estimating, and more! Students were also very excited to have the opportunity to race their zucchinis and compare their timed results from one team to another.
