After a number of years working on our focus of "Learning Involves Patience and Time" a number of staff were beginning to feel it was time to shift our focus. Having patience and providing time in our teaching will always be a part of what we do here at Mitchell Elementary, but there was a growing hunch that it is time to explore a new focus. In our May Professional Development Day, staff engaged in conversations around possible new areas of focus. Staff looked at student survey responses centered around areas of learning that students felt they were strong in, as well as areas that students felt they struggled with. These survey samples, along with observations teachers have made about their students throughout the year, began to shape our conversations around what a possible new school focus might be. We finished the day with a committment to continue scanning our learners for the remainder of the year, so that we can move toward a new focus for the 2021-2022 School Year.
